ScannerQR

Privacy policy

Private by design. Your images and codes never leave your device.

Last updated June 1, 2026

This policy explains what data ScannerQR does and does not collect. The short version: our core tools run entirely in your browser, so the QR codes, barcodes and images you scan or create are never transmitted to us or anyone else.

Scanning and generation are local

When you upload an image, paste a screenshot, use your camera, or generate a QR code, all processing happens on your device using in-browser code. The image data and the resulting content are not sent to any server. When you close the tab, that data is gone.

Local storage

To improve your experience, we may store a small amount of data in your browser's local storage — for example, your recent scan history or your saved generator presets. This data stays on your device, is never sent to us, and you can clear it at any time from within the app or by clearing your browser data.

Camera access

Camera-based scanning requires your explicit permission, requested by your browser. The video feed is processed locally to detect codes and is never recorded or uploaded. You can revoke camera access at any time in your browser settings.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics to understand which pages are useful and how the site performs. These analytics do not track you across other websites and do not collect the content of the codes you scan or create.

Cookies

ScannerQR does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Any storage we use is functional and limited to the features described above.

Third-party links

Scanned QR codes often contain links to third-party websites. Once you choose to open such a link, you are subject to that site's privacy practices. Our Safe QR Scanner can preview a destination before you visit it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our tools evolve. Material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
